A new era begins as Global Graphics Software becomes Hybrid Software Helix

Exciting news! Today, we said a fond farewell to Global Graphics Software and unveiled our new brand identity: Hybrid Software Helix. We sat down with our managing director, Justin Bailey, to talk about why the company chose to rebrand, what the new name represents, and our plans for the future:

Q: Why did you decide to rebrand now?

Over the past few years, our company has changed significantly. We’ve expanded our technology portfolio, embraced AI and Industry 4.0, and become an integral part of the Hybrid Software family. The Global Graphics Software name has served us well, but we needed a brand that truly reflects who we are today and where we’re going.

Q: Why did you choose “Hybrid Software Helix”?

Helix is a powerful metaphor for the role our technologies play in OEM printing devices. Just as DNA carries the code for life, our software provides the embedded intelligence inside modern print systems. We wanted a name that captured a story about the platforms OEMs evolve on. It evokes structure, modularity, and DNA-like architecture. We feel it fits perfectly with our technologies for image pipelines, raster image processors and GPU rendering.

Q: How does the new identity reflect your history and your future?

The double helix structure of DNA was famously discovered at Cambridge University back in 1953. And, our roots go back to a Cambridge University project that created the Harlequin RIP® raster image processor. That spirit of innovation and research is still very much alive in our R&D team today. But we’re also looking forward – to the opportunities presented by smart factories, connected workflows, and new print applications. Hybrid Software Helix bridges that history with our vision for the future.

Q: What does this change mean for your customers and partners?

Our values haven’t changed. We’re still the same trusted partner, focused on collaboration and innovation.

Q: Innovation has been a key focus for the company. What’s next?

Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. Our SmartDFE™ digital front end platform, which won the King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation, is a great example of how we’re helping OEMs meet new challenges. Looking ahead, we’ll continue to focus on developing software that harnesses AI, automation, connectivity, and data analytics to make print systems even more intelligent and efficient.

Q: Your 40th anniversary is coming up in 2026. How does that feel?

It’s a huge milestone. Few tech companies last that long, and we’re proud of our heritage. But what excites me most is that, even after 40 years, we’re still innovating and shaping the future of digital print. The Helix name feels like the perfect way to celebrate our past and mark the beginning of the next chapter.

Q. You’re part of Hybrid Software. Where do you fit in?

Hybrid Software Helix is the OEM Software business unit of Hybrid Software, dedicated to serving industrial print OEMs. Its other business units provide software for labels & packaging, color management, integration and project management, as well as artwork management for brands and FMCG companies. Other companies in the Hybrid Software Group include the industrial printhead drive solutions specialists Meteor Inkjet and offset printing workflow developer Xitron. Together, our technologies cover the entire production workflow, from file pre-flighting and color management to delivering print data directly to inkjet printheads at blistering speeds.

Being part of Hybrid Software has been central to our success. We’re the only company in the industry that owns 100% of its intellectual property, eliminating reliance on third parties. This independence allows us to collaborate closely with customers to develop the features they need, on their terms. And because we’re not tied to any press manufacturer, their roadmap remains entirely their own.

Q: If you could describe the technology from Hybrid Software Helix in three words, what would they be?

Intelligent. Innovative. Performant.
